The Mortgage Loan Officer assists members with all mortgage loan needs. They analyze loan requests and make credit decisions based on mortgage lending policy. Process mortgage loan applications and prepare all necessary loan documents.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Interviews loan applicants to document income, debt and credit history. Reviews residential loan application files to verify that application data is complete and meets credit union standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, and length of employment. Approves or rejects loan application, or requests additional information. Establishes terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews with member. Ensures loans are in compliance with mortgage industry standards, including terms and conditions of loans and timely delivery of all required loan disclosures. Maintains strong working knowledge of mortgage industry standards and applies such knowledge to make compliant loans and better assist members with their needs. Services existing portfolio loans by answering member questions and assisting coworkers with servicing needs. Evaluates acceptability of loan on secondary mortgage markets. Obtains property abstract, survey, and appraisal; informs supervisor of discrepancies in title or survey. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Expectations: To produce assigned loan volume. To ensure that all approved loans comply with established loan standards. Produce loan documents, reports, and post closing procedures in a timely fashion. Provide informed, professional, accurate service and support to all members and associates by replying to all messages and correspondence in a timely fashion. Troubleshoot and resolve customer and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner. Accurately prepare file for underwriting, close, organize and complete member loan files. Organize and accurately complete member mortgage loan files within time frame needed to close the loan. Develop and maintain knowledge of all mortgage products and rates within the credit union and from the mortgage industry. Provide friendly, accurate, professional service to members and associates by responding to messages and correspondence.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills: Threeto five yearsof similar or related experience. A high school education or GED. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Working Environment/Physical Demands:
Work involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, etc. Employees work primarily in an office setting under generally favorable working conditions. The job requires walking, sitting, bending, stooping, standing for long periods of time, or similar activities. Employees frequently lift objects up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift heavy objects from 26 to 50 pounds, yet seldom from 51 to 100 pounds.
