We are seeking an experienced AV Field Engineer for our San Diego office! Full benefits after 30 days.
Job Summary:
The qualified candidate will be well-rounded and experienced in commercial Audio/Visual systems. This individual should have strong industry knowledge of best practices and installation standards consistent with InfoComm and manufacturer specifications. Proficiency in reading and interpreting AV signal one-line drawings is required, along with the ability to understand system functions and determine cable pull schedules. The candidate must maintain a professional appearance and be capable of interfacing with clients. Knowledge of commercial construction standards is strongly preferred. Passing company qualifications to drive a company vehicle is mandatory.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Install commercial AV systems, including cable pulling, rack building/pre-wiring, and hanging projector screens.
Build structures to hang AV equipment following industry safety standards.
Install speakers, flat panel displays, cameras, ceiling and tabletop microphones.
Solder AV connectors and terminate shielded category cables.
Conduct troubleshooting of AV systems at an expert level.
Perform structured cabling tasks: pulling, terminating, and testing.
Work with projectors, video conferencing systems, and computer controls.
Conduct rack build-outs and ensure craftsmanship quality.
Provide feedback for process improvements and perform other assigned responsibilities.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods. Self-motivated, positive, professional, and proactive in process improvement. Ability to act as a company liaison and interface with customers. Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Work at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Visual acuity for color distinction and reading small prints; auditory skills for signals. Ability to travel within the territory as needed. Proficiency in PC and networking skills.
Education, Certification, and Skill Requirements: High school diploma or GED; electronics or related field preferred. Experience in AV or electro-mechanical installation and servicing. Crestron programming experience required. Experience with video conferencing platforms such as Polycom, Tandberg, Cisco, or LifeSize preferred. Experience in residential AV, structured wiring, and smart home designs. Ability to read schematic diagrams and drawings. Experience with manufacturers and platforms including Crestron Digital Media, Biamp, Polycom, AMX, and ClearOne.
