About the Role

Senior Staff Hardware Systems Engineer – we are looking for a visionary engineer who can drive the entire product lifecycle for new, high‑volume products, from concept to mass production. This is a leadership, creation‑focused position that requires deep technical ownership, product‑driven innovation, and collaboration with customers, manufacturing partners, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end product realization: define system architecture, conduct feasibility studies, produce specifications, and guide validation, certification, and production.
  • Drive customer‑directed innovation by partnering with Product Management and customers to translate real‑world challenges into new product features.
  • Manage technical relationships with Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM) partners, ensuring quality, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Own the electrical engineering architecture—chipset/SoC selection, power budgeting, RF/antenna performance, thermals, sensor integration, and PCB design—to meet automotive/industrial robustness.
  • Lead development from prototyping through validation and field testing as the technical authority on system debugging and bring‑up.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of end‑to‑end ownership on high‑volume hardware programs, with experience shipping products in partnership with JDM and ODM collaborators.
  • Expertise in low‑power design, battery technology, wireless communications (LTE/5G, BLE, Wi‑Fi, GPS), embedded processing, AI/ML acceleration, and imaging systems.
  • Track record of balancing performance, design elegance, manufacturability, and cost to achieve scalable products.
  • Experience in product bring‑up, system‑level debugging, and comprehensive validation (desense, power analysis, performance testing).
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills for aligning technical strategy across product, firmware, engineering, and supply‑chain teams globally.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience with certifications and stringent testing (e.g., ISO 16750, AEC‑Q100).
  • Familiarity with advanced PCB design tools such as Altium or Cadence Allegro.
  • Knowledge of Design for Supply, Design for Reliability/Testing, and Design for Manufacture (DfX) principles.

Hybrid Location & Travel

This position requires three days per week in our San Francisco, CA office and two days remote, with up to 25% travel. Relocation assistance will be provided for qualified candidates willing to move to the Bay Area.
