Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Charge Nurse, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to health care team members

Models professional behavior and collaboration for staff. Actively supports leadership in shared goals

Able to assign staff appropriately

Works collaboratively with Nursing Supervisor on staffing decisions. Flexes staff to meet matrix and census levels. Assigns breaks and lunches to staff and ensures compliance. Takes actions to ensure staff is able to complete patient care within limits of shift

Reviews and maintains supply usage

Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.

Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Pay Range $80.24 - $102.60 /hour
