General Manager, Metal Finishing and Plating Operations Job Title: General Manager, Metal Finishing and Plating Operations

Company: Texas Precision Plating

Role Summary The General Manager is fully accountable for the operational, technical, regulatory, and financial performance of the plating facility. This role owns the chemical processes, people, equipment, audits, and output. There is no buffer layer. If something fails in production, compliance, safety, or delivery, this role owns it.

This role carries direct responsibility for achieving and maintaining AS9100 certification and NADCAP accreditation. If the candidate does not understand what these certifications require at the process level, they will fail.

Core Responsibilities Operations and Production

Own daily shop operations across all plating and finishing lines, including anodize, chem film, passivation, and any supporting processes.

Ensure production schedules are met without sacrificing quality or compliance.

Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for all tanks, lines, and support systems.

Drive throughput, yield, and uptime. Bottlenecks and downtime must be actively eliminated.

Maintain strict control of work-in-process, lot traceability, and job routing.

Chemical Process Control

Maintain deep working knowledge of plating and anodizing chemistry. Surface-level familiarity is insufficient.

Own bath chemistry control, including titrations, replenishment, contamination control, temperature, agitation, and filtration.

Ensure all tanks remain within specification at all times, not just before audits.

Review, interpret, and act on lab data and SPC trends.

Approve chemical additions and corrective actions based on data, not assumptions.

Ensure proper storage, labeling, handling, and disposal of all chemicals and hazardous materials.

Quality, Certification, and Compliance

Lead the facility through AS9100 implementation and certification, including process mapping, documentation, training, and audit readiness.

Lead preparation for and execution of NADCAP accreditation for applicable plating and anodizing processes.

Ensure all processes, controls, and records meet AS9100 and NADCAP requirements continuously, not episodically.

Own audit preparation, on-site execution, responses, and corrective actions for AS9100, NADCAP, customer, and regulatory audits.

Interface directly with primes, government representatives, registrars, and accreditation bodies.

Drive corrective actions to closure with real root cause and permanent fixes. Paper-only compliance is unacceptable.

Maintain control of all certifications, permits, and regulatory approvals.

Leadership and People Management

Lead supervisors, operators, and support staff with clear expectations and enforced accountability.

Train personnel on process discipline, quality requirements, chemical handling, and audit readiness.

Correct performance issues decisively. Repeated mistakes indicate leadership failure.

Establish and maintain a clean, organized, and controlled shop environment. Disorder signals loss of control.

Safety and Environmental Control

Own safety and environmental compliance across the facility.

Ensure proper PPE usage, spill response readiness, hazardous waste handling, and emergency procedures.

Interface with OSHA, TCEQ, EPA, and other regulatory bodies as required.

Act immediately on safety or environmental risks. Delay is negligence.

Financial and Business Accountability

Control operating costs, chemical usage, labor efficiency, scrap, and rework.

Provide accurate reporting on production performance, cost drivers, and operational risk.

Support pricing, quoting, and capacity planning with real process data.

Protect margins through discipline, not shortcuts.

Required Qualifications

8 to 12 plus years in metal finishing, plating, or anodizing operations with direct shop leadership responsibility.

Hands‑on experience with anodize, chem film, passivation, or equivalent processes.

Demonstrated experience with chemical process control, titrations, bath maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Proven experience leading audits and working directly with regulatory and government bodies.

Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements and NADCAP accreditation expectations.

Ability to read and interpret specifications, process sheets, and customer flowdowns independently.

Strong leadership presence with the ability to command the shop floor.
