Position Overview The Music Director/Operations Assistant assists the Director of Programming in scheduling music, managing digital content, and ensuring smooth airing of programming. The role involves technical and production oversight of shows and supporting the local station’s daily operations.
What You Will Do
Provide clerical and operations assistance to assure smooth airing of station’s programming, including reliable, timely, error‑free delivery of terrestrial radio and digital media.
Understand and develop music stories targeting the audience.
Find, evaluate, and research daily content.
Provide topical background research and anticipate news, culture and entertainment trends.
Find, record, edit and mix audio and video on tight deadlines.
Produce, edit, upload and distribute daily show social media content.
Collaborate with other teams across brands and departments to maintain brand consistency and efficiently use station resources.
Set up and manage the technical aspects of shows, including Comrex and studio equipment.
Conceptualize and develop production elements (“benchmarks” and features) to enhance show presentation and sound.
Operate studio equipment and possess basic production skills.
Monitor and coordinate listener calls, interviews and benchmark actors.
Curate and maintain the station’s library of music.
Review and monitor daily audio and video production.
Ensure that station formatics are executed properly as proposed by the Program Director.
Schedule music via RCS Selector software and analyze daily/weekly schedules.
Create RCS Long Audit Trials, analyze scheduling problems, and propose solutions.
Maintain the station’s music libraries and oversee the dubbing of all music content media.
Assist with creation of screeners for perceptual and auditorium music test studies.
Secure music required for broadcast.
Continuously review and refine Selector data to ensure completeness.
Attend music sorts and perceptual presentations and contribute to brainstorming.
Manage relationships with trade magazines, radio critics, and internet vendors who provide regulatory editorial.
Protect the company’s FCC license.
Perform all other tasks that support department and station goals.
Skills and Experience
Experience operating broadcast equipment.
Minimum 3 years of programming experience with a proven track record.
Knowledge of FCC rules, geographical demographics, and broadcast area preferred.
Self‑motivated and able to work autonomously.
Ability to run a broadcast facility board and operate EAS hardware.
Proficient with RCS Zetta, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere/Elements, Vox Pro, Wheatstone audio board, and social media tools.
Consistent news judgment and understanding of a politically conservative news and talk audience.
Highly organized and detail‑oriented.
Works effectively under pressure, ensuring material for broadcast is delivered on time.
Excellent time‑management skills and flexibility.
Adaptable to direction and changes.
Eager to understand and execute format philosophy working with a team to create a distinctive sound.
Available to work required hours, including extra hours when needed.
Maintains professional appearance and demeanor.
Accurate with ability to follow through and multitask effectively.
Clear communicator who receives and interprets instructions.
Produces written content for social media assets.

Compensation Salary range: $68,300 – $85,000. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels and takes into account education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
