Trial Attorney (Remote – Richmond, VA)
Allstate is seeking a Trial Attorney to join its client legal services team. The role is remote within the Richmond, VA region and involves managing a broad portfolio of insurance defense litigation including bodily injury, property damage, arbitrations, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
Responsibilities
Manage all litigation phases from case inception to verdict: initial assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre‑trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post‑trial motions.
Gather, organize, and analyze documents, evidence, and legal research for cases.
Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
Interview clients and witnesses, draft statements, and maintain communication records.
Attend court hearings, depositions, and other proceedings; represent the company or clients in routine matters as needed.
Monitor regulatory changes and inform the legal team of potential impacts.
Participate in training and mentorship programs to develop legal skills.
Education
Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
Minimum Requirements
Entry‑level to early career experience in trial advocacy.
Completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis.
Strong time‑management and multitasking skills.
Proficiency in organizing case files and managing discovery.
Excellent client communication, summary preparation, and record‑keeping.
Knowledge of legal ethics and professional conduct standards.
Basic negotiation techniques for client interactions and settlements.
Residence within commute distance to Richmond, VA courts (City of Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, New Kent).

Compensation Competitive salary range: $105,000 – $118,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
