From strategy to execution, the Government & Public Sector practice of Ernst & Young provides a full range of consulting and audit services to help our Federal, state, local and education clients implement new ideas to help achieve their mission outcomes.
Your key responsibilities
Facilitate client’s product visions by researching, conceiving, wireframing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences for digital products.
Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs.
Work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
Apply extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
Demonstrate an understanding of user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns.
Iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
Effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design.
Collaborate and communicate closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model to evaluate design solutions for approval.
Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
Apply skills in standard design tools, specifically Adobe Creative Suite.
Utilize tools such as basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Skills and attributes for success You will ideally have previous exposure to technology consulting, and a keen interest in collaborating with the U.S. government and Public sector. You should have strong communication skills, and business and technology acumen, and have a passion for delivering value to our clients.
To qualify for the role you must have
Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years’ relevant experience
Due to the nature of our work in the Government and Public Sector, work may be required to be completed at client, EY and/or contractor sites. Our goal is to assign professionals to projects within a commutable distance of their work location office. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs. Candidates should be willing to travel on average 25% to 30% or more in a hybrid environment.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Visual design experience preferred, including user interface development for Web and mobile experiences.
Experience in user centered design practices and principles, including research & testing, information architecture, prototyping, taxonomy and other areas.
Experience in agile scrum methodology and management tools (e.g., JIRA, VersionOne, etc.).
Knowledge of federal communication guidelines like 508 compliance.
Ability to adhere to a style guide.
Industry knowledge of how government agencies operate.
Ability to understand technical and government terms and translate to all audiences.
Ability to translate copy into graphic designs.
Pays close attention to detail and creates designs that are uniform and consistent.
Ability to track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner. Proficient in MS Office, including Word and PowerPoint, Power BI, Adobe Suite.
Experience executing project plans on large, complex engagements from analysis through implementation.
Expertise in developing written and visual communication products.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of major digital trends and platforms.
Knowledge of modern web and mobile architecture.
Ability to collaborate with clients and identify engagement follow-on opportunities.

What We Offer You
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $100,200 to $165,400. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $120,200 to $188,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
Join us in our team‑led and leader‑enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40‑60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
