Linux Network Engineer (Junior) with Security Clearance
BreakPoint Labs is seeking a Linux Network Engineer to support Network Engineering’s service provisioning the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) and Secret Research and Engineering Network (SDREN), which provide DoD clients and partners access they need to accomplish their respective missions. This position requires at least 2 years of experience, a Top‑Secret DoD clearance and strong skills in Linux system and network administration.
Responsibilities
Provide system and network administration support to a large‑scale 24×7 organization.
Perform hands‑on installation, hardening, and troubleshooting of network and system equipment.
Develop and maintain network performance and utilization analysis, and troubleshoot when necessary.
Analyze to improve system and network operation and enhance security posture.
Engage in a variety of systems and network engineering tasks concerning design, integration, and implementation.
Apply critical thinking and troubleshooting with strong attention to detail.
Communicate concisely and clearly, working effectively in a team environment.
Provide proactive customer service.
Qualifications
Proficient in Linux; working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
Relevant technical experience in enterprise or data‑center environments.
Understanding of IPv4 and familiarity with IPv6 routing and multicast.
Experience with data‑center technologies such as LAN/WAN, NAS/SAN storage, firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and network protocols (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP).
Familiarity with Palo Alto, F5, Gigamon, Juniper, Symantec, Fidelis, Fluency, HAIPE/EDE technologies (desired).
Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification.
Top Secret Security Clearance (or Interim Top Secret acceptable).
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
