Senior Plant Operator – Water Division Join the City of Stockton’s Municipal Utilities Department as a Senior Plant Operator – Water Division! The Municipal Utilities Department (MUD) is seeking a dedicated Senior Plant Operator to join our Water Division. MUD manages the City’s Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Enterprises, providing essential services that keep Stockton thriving. From residential neighborhoods to commercial and industrial areas, our work touches the lives of thousands every day.

In this role, you will help ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of Stockton’s water supply while supporting regulatory compliance with State and Federal standards. You’ll also play a key part in utility planning, capital improvement projects, and the management of water resources that sustain our growing community.

Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to pass a back evaluation examination by a City Physician, and submit to and successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.

Responsibilities Under supervision, incumbents have the lead responsibility for planning, scheduling, coordinating, directing, and reviewing the effective and efficient operation and monitoring of the water or wastewater treatment system during an assigned shift in addition to operating and monitoring various plant equipment.

Experience/Certifications Valid California Grade T-3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate.

Other Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license.

The Examination Applicants who qualify in terms of relevant work experience and education, that best fit the needs of the City, will be invited to participate in the examination process. The examination process may include a training and experience examination weighted 100%. However, the City reserves the right to utilize alternative testing methods if deemed necessary. Candidates must receive a minimum passing score of 70%, as determined by the relative performance of all candidates in all portions of the examination. In the event of identical ratings, candidates' names will be arranged in order of application date/time, and, if the same, then arranged alphabetically.
