AVP Risk Engineering Specialist - Power Generation

Zurich is looking for a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant or Risk Engineering Specialist with extensive experience in power plant operations to join the Global Energy – Power Generation team. This work‑from‑home role (preferably in the Western U.S.) requires up to 50% travel across the U.S.
Responsibilities
Advanced risk assessment of plant machinery and fire protection equipment risks and associated business interruption within the power generation industry.
Provide consultative services to customers, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigating the cause/effect of major losses, and developing management programs.
Provide power generation training for Risk Engineering staff, Underwriting staff, customers, and service design and coordination; mentor, market, and conduct loss investigations.
Manage account risk portfolio and provide account‑level engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
Market Zurich products in conjunction with underwriting professionals and agents across company business segments.
Develop and implement customer service strategies that reduce loss and improve customer operations.
Final candidates will also be subject to a Motor Vehicle record background check; a company car may be provided depending on location and annual mileage requirements.
Assignment Levels Position will be filled at either the Senior Risk Engineering Consultant or Risk Engineering Specialist level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications Senior Risk Engineering Consultant
Bachelor’s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area, or
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area, or
Zurich Certified Apprentice with an Associate’s degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Power Generation Risk Engineering area, and
Experience working in a team environment.
Risk Engineering Specialist
Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area, or
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area, or
Zurich Certified Apprentice with an Associate’s degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area, and
Knowledge of exposures, controls and best practice risk improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area, or power generation plant operations and maintenance with experience in machinery operation and maintenance or assessment.
Military experience in propulsion plants and power generation equipment.
Related energy industry experience.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Advanced knowledge of exposures controls.
Advanced knowledge within industry segment.
Certification in area of specialty; Risk Engineering Power Generation Machinery Breakdown assessments.
Compensation Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:
$98,300 – $161,100 (15% short‑term incentive bonus eligibility).
Risk Engineering Specialist:
$113,100 – $185,100 (20% short‑term incentive bonus eligibility).
Compensation may vary by geographic location and is subject to market and employee qualifications.
Work Arrangement Remote working: Yes (working from home, with up to 50% travel across the U.S.).
