Position Overview
Utilities Director
– Cranberry Township, Butler County, full‑time. The incumbent will ensure reliable utility services to residents and businesses, support public health and safety, and lead strategic long‑term planning for water, wastewater, and waste removal operations.
Responsibilities :
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and innovative strategies for utilities management.
Oversee day‑to‑day operations, including water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment, collection, and waste removal services.
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of bargaining‑unit and non‑bargaining‑unit employees.
Interpret and negotiate bargaining‑unit contracts.
Maintain compliance with state and federal environmental regulations related to water and wastewater.
Collaborate with senior management to present technical advice and project status.
Meet aggressive deadlines for multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Manage competing priorities to achieve customer and quality goals.
Demonstrate growth mindset, strong strategic planning, project management, and critical thinking skills.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, public administration, or related field.
Ten (10) years of utility operations experience, including three (3) years in a leadership role (or equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience).
Valid, insurable driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in public administration or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
At least two (2) years leading and managing a division or department, including strategic planning and employee development experience.
Five (5) years of utility leadership and management experience in a union setting.
Wage and Benefits Approximate annual salary: $125,000 – $145,000 (subject to qualifications). Fringe benefits include health, dental, vision, and a generous deferred compensation plan. For more questions, contact Human_Resources@cranberrytownship.org.
