Gartner is seeking an Analyst with deep expertise in the healthcare market to develop unique business and technology insights for market and product strategies and execution. Successful candidates will need a deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare market, including synergies across the ecosystem of care delivery, payment/insurance and life sciences; key policies and initiatives; and suppliers of healthcare technology products and services.
About This Role Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must‑have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world‑leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights group, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, and/or global levels. Using exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research that Gartner clients consume and apply to mission‑critical priorities. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day. They engage via in‑person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer actionable recommendations. This Analyst role sits within Gartner’s High Tech and Invest Practice and will support product leaders and other technology executives in accelerating healthcare market growth ambitions and innovation, including winning in the AI tech race.
What You Will Do
Track regional and global healthcare technology market trends, relevant vendors and emerging AI technologies to remain ahead of the curve within quickly evolving market dynamics
Write evidence‑based content that challenges conventional wisdom about the problem being solved and offer compelling, simplified approaches that accelerate each client’s ability to take action
Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions in collaboration with other analysts
Help high‑tech product leaders understand healthcare end‑user needs to seize IT and OT market trends and growth opportunities, including winning in the AI tech race
Deliver high‑quality actionable advice to an executive client audience (e.g., general managers, product leaders, CTOs, etc.) through a variety of media
Create and deliver presentations for webinars, executive briefings and other client‑facing events
Establish credibility as a healthcare high‑tech market expert and thought leader representing Gartner Business and Technology Insights
Deliver outstanding sales and service support to retain and grow the Gartner business
Participate in ideation and research community discussions, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across our research community
Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and Business and Technology Insights provide excellent service delivery
Be a mentor and coach by supporting one or more junior team members
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
12+ years of relevant IT and/or executive leadership working for or with healthcare high‑tech companies, including its ecosystem of partners and technology and services vendors
Informed understanding of the strategic and operational challenges facing healthcare delivery leaders within and across their market ecosystem (e.g., payers, life sciences)
Extensive experience in healthcare technology; leading go‑to‑market strategy, product management, or technology‑enabled enterprise transformation initiatives in one or more of the following areas:
AI strategy, use cases, and implementation roadmap, including data readiness
Healthcare IT infrastructure and operations, including cloud services
Technology solutions such as electronic health records, revenue cycle management, healthcare insurance administration and claims processing
Digital health platforms, including IT/OT integration for patient care monitoring
Healthcare policies and implications on data interoperability, emerging technologies, etc.
Demonstrated executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high‑quality deliverables
Demonstrated excellence in research and writing ability
Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges
Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts concisely and simply
Comfort presenting at large and small‑scale speaking engagements
Strong business and financial acumen
Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
Learning agility and adeptness with navigating highly matrixed environments
Ability to represent Gartner insights, methodology and strategies effectively at all levels
Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%
