What You'll Be Doing: Clinical Excellence

Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, and swallowing needs for children ages 0–3.

Develop individualized treatment plans and support families in achieving IFSP goals.

Deliver high-quality therapy through home visits and community-based sessions.

Community Impact

Travel one day per week to Imperial County to extend the reach of services with a weekly travel stipend.

Represent HGH as a leader in early intervention, building collaborative networks and resources.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment notes, and progress reports.

Review, track, and provide feedback on written reports from staff to maintain quality standards.

Stay informed of best practices, research, and emerging trends to foster program innovation.

Serve as the Lead SLP by training, mentoring, and supporting team members.

Observe and evaluate staff performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.

Design and deliver in-service trainings to raise the standard of care across the program.

Family Partnership

Build strong, trusting relationships with families through empathy and clear communication.

Provide education, resources, and coaching that empower caregivers to support their child’s development.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, family-centered care.

Qualifications What You'll Bring to the Role: Education & Credentials

Current license from the State of California Speech-Language Pathology Board.

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an educational program accredited by The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

Professional Experience

Minimum one (1) year SLP experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Minimum one (1) year pediatrics experience (birth to 5 years of age).

Experience providing constructive feedback, mentoring others, and supporting professional growth of colleagues.

General Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.

Must receive criminal record clearance from DOJ.

Must have valid California Driver’s license, safe driving record, and have been licensed to drive at least 2 years.

Must maintain current and adequate auto insurance.

Must obtain CPR/FA certification if not already certified (training provided for new hires).

Demonstrates accountability and follow-through in meeting documentation, compliance, and training requirements.

Adaptability to respond to changing policies, staffing needs, and family crises.

Language & Technical Skills

Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Strong active listening skills to understand family and staff concerns.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment The work environment for this position involves working with a variety of people in their homes and in the community. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, hear, walk, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift objects weighing up to ten pounds repeatedly during a shift.

The Mission of HGH is "to improve the lives of those we serve". We support children and adults in San Diego and Imperial Counties with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome, epilepsy, autism, and cerebral palsy. We provide a full continuum of care including residential care in specialized group homes, independent living support, respite care, and adult foster home services. Additionally, we provide early childhood assessments and services, tailored day support, Life Planning workshops, county-wide transportation services, and on-site activities at our resource center.
