Position Summary The District Business Manager drives sales performance within a designated area by providing strategic direction, managing key accounts, and leading a specialized team. Leveraging in-depth knowledge of the local market, the DM identifies stakeholders and emerging trends, ensuring the organization remains competitive and responsive to customer needs. This role directly impacts revenue growth and market positioning. The position supports the Great Lakes Territory, ideally based in Detroit, MI or Minneapolis, MN.
Responsibilities
Provides inspirational leadership and strategic direction to specialty sales representatives (8-10) to exceed performance goals
Understands accounts through identification of individual account business model and process, including key decision makers, influencers, and protocols
Oversees all area operations including hiring, people development and performance goals/management, change management, legal & compliance adherence, resource utilization and administration
Observes and coaches sales representatives in the field on business acumen, product knowledge and sales competencies to maximize development and goal attainment
Executes a business plan collaboratively with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Market Access reflecting current and future market/customer trends as well as brand, channel, HCP, thought leadership and contracting strategies
Develops and maintains a strategic Area Business Plan and oversees individual territory plans for direct reports, demonstrating an entrepreneurial approach to driving sales results
Optimizes area operating budget to engage and support top customer and business opportunities and to close gaps for growth and profitability
Monitors area customer and sales trends and salesforce execution to identify opportunities and gaps, addressing them through business plan evolution and call plan adherence
Communicates regularly with sales leadership and internal partners on performance, insights and trends
Builds sustained relationships with top customers to maintain open lines of information, support business plans, and proactively identify and counter competitive threats
Ensures the team consistently conducts business in a compliant and legal manner in accordance with core Nestlé policies and procedures and proactively proposes enhancement ideas
Develops an energizing and inspiring culture where team members feel highly supported and motivated to compete every day for the business, sharing recognition and best practices with the broader organization
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or related medical field
Leadership Experience: 3+ years in pharma/medical sales with a proven record of building and retaining high-performance teams
Organizational Skills: Experience working within large organizations and navigating complex decision processes
Initiative Execution: Successful planning and execution of key corporate initiatives
Financial Acumen: Strong financial and analytical skills
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM/Veeva, and sales reporting technologies
Cross-Functional Experience: Background in Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, and Account Management
Collaborative Execution: Ability to work with Marketing, Market Access, and Medical Affairs for impactful plan execution
Team Inspiration: Proven ability to motivate teams to achieve objectives
Decision-Making: Skilled in making complex decisions amid ambiguity
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel 75% or more for relationship development
Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

The approximate pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 base. Final compensation may vary based on knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location. Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401(k) with company match, healthcare coverage, and a broad range of other benefits. Incentives and/or benefits packages may vary depending on the position.
