WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM The Portfolio & Communications Manager at Bain & Company plays a pivotal role in driving strategic portfolio management and high‑impact communication initiatives for TSG. This role captures and analyzes portfolio data to support data‑driven decision‑making, coordinates annual strategic processes, and facilitates quarterly reviews to optimize resources, dependencies, and trade‑offs across teams. Additionally, the manager partners with leadership to design and execute communication strategies, delivering high‑quality content, refining approaches based on metrics and feedback, and enabling scalable solutions through tools and templates. This position is also responsible for the day‑to‑day management, professional development, and coaching of their direct reports.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Capture and provide portfolio information (including OKRs, timelines, etc) in a way that facilitates data‑driven decision making to meet the needs of TSG leadership

Partner with business operations team on orchestration of annual processes, including TSG strategic roadmaps and business cases

Drive quarterly reviews of overall portfolio to identify dependencies, impacted personas, resources, and sequencing & trade‑off conversations

Partner across pillars, programs, and enablers to ensure teams have the portfolio visibility they need to make decisions that allow them to manage team‑level demand efficiently

Create materials for leadership to update advisory bodies against established goals by combining existing information with leadership insight

Contribute to the right leadership forums to weigh trade‑offs and drive decision making among CIO & TSG Leadership

Design materials to share key efforts with broader TSG audience, setting them up to become ambassadors for TSG

Develops, maintains, and demonstrates domain knowledge including both internal (Bain) and external (market) trends

Communications center of excellence

Partner with leadership to develop and execute communication strategies for high‑visibility moments, aligning with Bain's goals and optimizing value across various audiences, channels, and business processes.

Deliver high‑quality, impactful content through multiple mediums, while innovating and testing new methods informed by Bain‑wide trends and feedback.

Analyze communication metrics and sentiment to refine strategies, enhance engagement, and ensure continuous improvement.

Enable scalable communication by creating self‑service tools, templates, and training resources for the broader Tech Solutions community.

Team Management and Development

Provide day‑to‑day oversight of 1‑3 direct report(s), offering guidance and direction where necessary, assisting in issue resolution, balancing competing interests, and escalating significant concerns as appropriate

Contribute to the professional development of the team, including identifying opportunities, reviewing skill plans, suggesting trainings, and writing/ delivering consensus reviews

ABOUT YOU

Ability to influence cross‑functional teams ranging in seniority and create a consensus between stakeholders

Strong written and verbal communication, especially simplifying technical concepts and lengthy emails to clear, crisp, and memorable communication

Exceptional proofreading/editing skills and overall attention to detail

U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).

Some local governments in the United States require a good‑faith, reasonable salary range be included in job postings for open roles. For all other locations, the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is commensurate with competitive geographic market rates for this role and will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level.

Massachusetts , the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is between $124,000 - $149,500 placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level.

Annual discretionary performance bonus

This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation

4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
