The Southern California Global Design Center Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently seeking experienced Multi‑Skilled Project Engineers to become part of the Commercial Modifications Engineering IPT in Long Beach, California.
Position is 100% on‑site. The work will be performed in Long Beach, CA.
Position Responsibilities:
Fully understand the project statement of work including safety and certification requirements
Facilitate Technical Design Reviews to help drive resolution to complex technical issues
Provides engineering and integration leadership to teams across multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external stakeholders and customers
Performs as Project Technical Leader guiding the integrated product team (IPT)
Develops the integrated project plans, project schedule, statement of work, and certification strategy to support the research and development, ongoing and new business requirements
Supports project proposal activities by reviewing statement of work, assessing potential impact to certification or to configuration control, and defining overall effort required to complete the project
Oversees the project execution to completion and monitors and reports project technical performance metrics to leadership
Identifies potential risks to projects and outlines coherent action plans for mitigation and resolution
Compares actual results to the baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and document the lessons learned
Identifies and leads improvement initiatives to optimize organizational quality and project flow
Works under minimal direction and is proactive
Some domestic and/or international travel required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
5+ years’ experience in leading teams or projects
5+ years’ experience supporting cross functional teams
Aircraft Interior commodity experience (Interior commodities are items such as overhead stowage bins, lavatories, galleys, seats, PSU, sidewalls, air grilles, flight deck seats, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years' experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Technical Lead on Aerospace Design Vehicles
Previous experience working in an aircraft modification environment or with Supplemental Type Certifications (STC)
Has good understanding of CFR Title 14 FAA Part 25 regulations
Experience working with external suppliers
Ability to travel domestic & international up to 10% of the time
