Senior Legal Counsel (Attorney 5)
Location: Columbus, OH
Job Overview The Ohio Department of Medicaid is seeking an attorney for our legal unit. As Senior Legal Counsel in the Provider & Program Compliance unit, your responsibilities will include:
Providing legal advice regarding Medicaid programs, including provider credentialing, public records requests, managed care, and provider compliance actions, among other topics.
Conducting discussions and negotiations on behalf of the department related to credentialing delegation agreements.
Reviewing and assessing contract breaches and making recommendations on damages.
Reviewing and providing legal advice and assisting with administrative rules.
Serving as a legal liaison between the department and the Attorney General's Office, other state and county agencies and boards, and other private or public entities regarding legal issues.
Assisting the Attorney General's Office with administrative hearings, trials and other legal matters and coordinating all activities related to the resolution of legal cases, including settlements, preparation of orders and case activity tracking.
Researching and drafting legal opinions, memoranda and other legal documents regarding Medicaid issues.
Responsibilities
Delivering a personalized care experience to more than three million people served.
Improving care for children and adults with complex behavioral health needs.
Working collectively with our partners and providers to measurably strengthen wellness and health outcomes.
Streamlining administrative burdens so doctors and healthcare providers have more time for patient care.
Ensuring financial transparency and operational accountability across all Medicaid programs and services.
Qualifications
Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code.
At least 18 months experience as a licensed attorney.
At least 6 months experience in supervisory principles/techniques.
Strong legal analysis and writing skills, detail oriented, and able to work collaboratively and independently.
