Technical Project Manager (Supply Chain) – Contract/Remote We are Hazel Seybert Consulting – a consulting firm dedicated to helping leaders and their teams transform their business, particularly in the area of project management.

This is a 6‑month contract opportunity with the potential for extension or conversion to full‑time permanent employment.

We need a “utility player” Project Manager with a heavy emphasis on systems/software implementation and data integrity. You will be responsible for the successful implementation of an adaptive supply chain planning system, ensuring that our technical integrators deliver a solution that is both data‑accurate and process‑sound across two divisions.

The ideal candidate has IT system integration and automation project‑management experience within a supply‑chain environment, a deep understanding of implementation phases (discovery, proof of concept, UAT, launch), and a humble, hardworking, all‑in attitude.

What You'll Do The Project Manager will work closely with the VP of Inventory Management to ensure quality system implementation and execution.

Responsibilities

Project Governance – Manage a 12–16 person core team, maintain the schedule, capture action items, and hold stakeholders accountable.

Project Management – Maintain the “source of truth” for project health, including rigorous tracking of action items, sprints, decision logs, and milestone completion.

Vendor Management & Accountability – Guide and monitor vendor performance against the project roadmap, identifying and escalating potential scope creep or technical bottlenecks before they impact the go‑live date.

Process Mapping – Bridge the gap between “how we do it today” (manual) and “how we do it tomorrow” (automated), documenting every step of the journey.

Documentation – Lead/Co‑lead in the creation of SOPs and training materials.

Data Validation – Act as the lead facilitator ensuring internal validation for data mapping between legacy ERPs and the Supply Chain Planning system, ensuring data continuity so that no demand signals are lost in transition.

Ideal Project Manager Profile Experience:

Proven technology implementation and comprehensive project‑management expertise, preferably in a supply‑chain environment.

Leadership Style:

Confident humility – secure enough to challenge VPs respectfully while remaining open to feedback. Natural executive presence that commands respect without intimidation.

Communication:

Diplomatic truth‑teller who surfaces uncomfortable realities while maintaining relationships.

Work Style:

Bias‑for‑action problem solver who thrives in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments. Prefers calculated quick moves over endless analysis and circular discussions. Energized by moving the needle and hands‑on execution.

Key Traits:

Curious about root causes, not just symptoms; comfortable with necessary conflict for progress; thinks in scalable processes and sustainable change; drives urgency with stakeholder management; views organizational complexity as an engaging puzzle.

Required Experience

Primary Project Manager experience for enterprise cross‑functional software implementation from discovery through launch.

7–10 years in project management, consulting, or supply‑chain/logistics experience.

Strong command of project governance, risk mitigation, stakeholder alignment, and multi‑vendor orchestration.

Experience with purchase order lifecycle management, inventory management, parts distribution – plus.

Strong expertise in process mapping.

Data analysis and synthesis experience.

Client location and travel preference: If local to Chicago, onsite three days a week; otherwise remote is acceptable with travel up to 25% per month.
