General Manager

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000

Overview General Manager (GM) is responsible for overall operations, customer experience, sales performance, and execution of brand excellence at the resort. The GM maximizes sales and profits, maintains exceptional customer service, leads a strong team, and creates a resort culture based on NVA Leadership Competencies, high quality guest/pet care, and exceptional service for internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
Understand and communicate the company's mission, values, and objectives.
Provide direction, leadership, and communication for all aspects of the site including financial management, customer service, pet care and team management.
Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy, including proactive lead management and conversion tactics, aligned with resort and company objectives.
Create a plan to drive and achieve resort quantitative objectives including sales revenue, labor, cost of goods sold and expense management.
Communicate concerns and needs to the Market Leader and/or the Regional Leader.
Maintain operational excellence within the resort.
Respond to directives accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance from the resort team.
Recognize and reward outstanding performance of resort team members.
Demonstrate exceptional leadership behaviors.
Other duties as assigned.
Drive financial success by analyzing financial data and KPIs to optimize performance, address challenges, and identify growth opportunities.
Develop resort leads (Resort Manager, Shift Leads) understanding of financial reports, enabling informed decisions.
Execute corporate marketing plans and create local market plans for lead generation.
Engage the community and market area on the company's value proposition and sales offerings.
Identify and cultivate relationships with local businesses, community groups, and referral sources to generate new leads.
Leverage digital marketing channels (social media, website, email) to capture and nurture leads.
Track and analyze lead generation efforts to optimize strategies and improve conversion rates.
Manage additional responsibilities as determined by resort and company needs (operational tasks, audits, compliance, etc.).
Ensure proper onboarding, training, and development of all team members.
Maintain accountability to plans, KPI targets, budget, and profitability.
Qualifications General Manager must possess excellent written, verbal, and hands‑on team‑member management skills; be an enthusiastic animal lover, brand ambassador with a vested interest in the community; and have a commitment to personal development and learning about business operations.
High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of management experience, including Profit and Loss management.
Availability to work up to 45-50 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to drive and manage/influence workplace change.
Strong Profit and Loss management abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and point-of-sale software.
Comfortable working in front-of-house and back-of-house roles.
Valid driver’s license, current insurance with comprehensive and collision coverage, and willingness to transport a pet in an emergency.
Experience in restaurant, retail, veterinary, or hospitality management preferred.
Bilingual skills a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Move throughout the resort for extended periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day).
Move 50 lbs. for distances up to 10 feet; balance and move up to 25 lbs. for distances up to 50 feet.
Respond to team members’ and guests’ requests in a loud environment.
Perform basic math and understand finances and cost management.
Bend, stoop, and reach to run and load animals, serve customers, and clean the resort.
Project a professional image and demeanor through dress code and language.
Compensation Salary range: $60,000 - $75,000, based on experience.
