Division Chief, Health System Innovation & Research, Faculty Position

The Division of Health System Innovation and Research (HSIR) seeks a visionary scientist to lead a high‑caliber program of engaged, multidisciplinary investigators. The role requires a proven record of leadership, innovative investigation, collaborative program development, and mentorship across career stages.
HSIR currently has 15 tenured/tenure‑track faculty and 7 research‑track faculty. The Division mentors junior faculty, postdoctoral scholars, medical residents and fellows, and PhD and medical students.
Qualifications • PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent
• Proven track record of leadership experience and successful mentoring and/or teaching
• Evidence of an innovative and successful research career with peer‑reviewed extramural funding
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and departments and strong interpersonal communication skills
Responsibilities The Division Chief will define the division’s vision in collaboration with the Department Chair, mentor faculty, and work with graduate and postdoctoral programs to ensure successful training experiences. The role will also engage with university health system leadership to develop innovative approaches to health‑care delivery and outcomes assessment, and will help maintain the division’s trajectory of independent and collaborative research.
Leadership Capacity – The Division Chief Should
Be a mid‑career to senior health services researcher who excels at interacting with clinicians, methodologists, and administrators
Have a history of successful engagement in operational partnerships
Possess forward‑thinking leadership to prepare for delivery system reform
Have a national/international reputation in health services research
Advocate for the Division as a resource for the Health Sciences missions
Build interdisciplinary research teams and mentor early‑career investigators
Partner with the Director of Graduate Studies and Director of Postdoctoral Fellows to support the educational mission
