Glyphic Biotechnologies
Scientist, Assay Development
Glyphic Biotechnologies, Berkeley, California, United States, 94709
About Glyphic:
At Glyphic Biotechnologies, we plan to create the protein revolution for which scientists and researchers have been waiting. We are developing a massively parallel, single-molecule proteome sequencing platform that will transform life science discovery and usher in a new era of insights into human biology and disease. To date, we have raised >$50M from venture partners and non-dilutive grant funding to achieve our vision of next generation proteome sequencing.
What we are looking for in you
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Assay Development Scientist to design and perform experiments that enable the next generation of sensitive, accurate, and scalable single-molecule protein sequencing. Reporting to the Director of Assay Development, you will leverage your molecular biology expertise in a cross-functional environment at the interface of molecular biology, chemistry, bioinformatics, and automation. The ideal candidate thrives at the bench in a dynamic research team and contributes to intellectually stimulating and highly collaborative projects. This is a full-time, exempt, in-person position with work conducted at our Berkeley, CA location.
What you’ll do
Plan, and execute experiments to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of Glyphic’s protein sequencing by expansion (ProSE) process
Propose, design, and test novel analytical approaches to optimize and build predictive understanding of critical components of the ProSE sequencing process including sample preparation, molecular expansion chemistry, and automation integration
Proactively identify, communicate, and help address experimental risks or resource gaps, such as reagent supply or instrument issues
Collaborate with scientists on the Assay Development team to ensure successful delivery of team goals and prioritize experiments accordingly
Collaborate with scientists in Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Process Development, and Engineering teams to assist and contribute to cross-functional projects
Collect, manage, and analyze data from molecular biology and protein sequencing experiments
Keep a detailed electronic lab notebook on Confluence
Communicate and present results in a timely manner
What you’ll need
Required :

Expertise and sound conceptual understanding of DNA‑based assays, including ligation, hybridization capture, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis
Experience with and conceptual understanding of bead‑based DNA or protein purification and QC methods such as gel extraction, Tapestation, Bioanalyzer, SeqStudio, and UV‑vis absorbance measurements
Familiarity with chemical safety protocols for handling reagents such as strong acids and bases or working in anoxic and anhydrous environments (e.g., glove boxes)
Academic exposure to organic chemistry
Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to keep accurate lab records
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive individual
