Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership and lead significant projects where AI and machine‑learning intersect with and contribute substantially to progress in advanced manufacturing for semiconductors and advanced packaging.
Exhibit strategic thinking, innovation, and high‑level technical leadership.
Lead significant contributions to semiconductor technologies driving organizational and industry advancements.
Determine key performance indicators, assess risks, and ensure long‑term programmatic success.
Manage complex semiconductor and related technology projects.
Convene stakeholders inside and outside the CHIPS R&D program—including academia, non‑profits, industry associations, and small businesses—to advance the CHIPS R&D Office strategy.
Qualifications All applicants must submit a resume not to exceed two pages on standard‑size paper. If the resume exceeds two pages, only the first two pages will be reviewed for qualifications.
Basic Requirements: Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics, OR education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
One year of specialized experience at the GS‑14 (ZP‑IV at NIST) or equivalent grade level. Specialized experience includes managing research projects focused on semiconductors and microelectronics, setting performance indicators and assessing risks; leading efforts to create and implement semiconductor technology solutions tailored to the semiconductor and microelectronics sectors; coordinating with technical teams; and introducing innovative methods or technologies.
Experience in the semiconductor industry—including materials, microelectronics manufacturing, or security microelectronics‑based components/products—either paid or unpaid (including volunteer work through National Service programs such as Peace Corps or AmeriCorps).
