About The Role We’re looking for a strategic and hands‑on Head of Data Science (Marketing) to lead our data initiatives in a high‑growth environment. This role is pivotal in driving our data strategy, fostering a data‑driven culture, and ensuring the robust infrastructure and insights necessary for our continued success as a leading African fintech.

You’ll collaborate with our amazing Marketing team and lead a dedicated data team to help execute our marketing strategy. You’ll be responsible for building and improving our current capabilities while shaping the future roadmap. We’re looking for a hands‑on and data‑driven strategic leader who can bring fresh thinking and inspire both the team and our customers.

Your Day‑to‑Day

Strategic leadership: Build a discipline of exceptional data scientists and analysts and execute a comprehensive data strategy.

Team building & management: Hire, develop, and retain a high‑performing data team.

Experimentation: Champion a culture of rigorous experimentation, including A/B testing, to inform product development and business decisions.

Data pipeline ownership: Oversee the end‑to‑end design, development, and maintenance of scalable, reliable data pipelines.

Data insights & analytics: Drive actionable insights for product, marketing, risk, and operations; build marketing mix models and channel attribution models; evaluate channel CAC and customer engagement.

Stakeholder collaboration: Liaise with marketing, product, and engineering managers, ensuring the right data is collected for meaningful insights.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience, including 4+ years in management or data leadership roles.

Expertise in experimentation methodologies and A/B testing frameworks (multivariate, geo‑holdouts, variance reduction).

Proficiency in designing/architecting data pipelines (ETL/ELT) on cloud platforms such as ClickHouse and BigQuery.

Strong command of Python and SQL.

Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Passion for working in marketing and using advertising data from platforms such as Facebook.
