Job Description Rodan + Fields is seeking a mid‑level attorney with a generalist background and strong familiarity with privacy work to assist with a wide range of corporate legal matters, focusing on employment law, general litigation, data privacy, and regulatory compliance. The role requires a proactive mindset, business judgment, and the ability to provide practical, sound advice in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
Support the Associate General Counsel in collaboration with HR and management to provide advice, working with outside counsel where necessary, on a broad spectrum of employment law issues.
Monitor changes to federal, state, and local laws applicable to a consumer products and e‑commerce business.
Partner with internal stakeholders to develop corporate policies and risk‑management strategies that balance pragmatism, risk, and compliance.
Assist senior legal team members in the active and strategic management of litigation and pre‑litigation matters, including class‑action lawsuits and multi‑party litigation.
In conjunction with legal and technical leadership, advise on data privacy matters, including U.S., Canada, and Australian privacy laws, and support privacy programs such as incident response preparation and risk assessment.
Collaborate with marketing and e‑commerce teams to create compliant brand content.
Work with trade associations and external advisors to monitor regulatory changes in the personal‑care and e‑commerce industry, analyze business impacts, and recommend mitigations.
Requirements
Top law school graduate with a strong academic record and current, good‑standing membership in the California Bar.
7‑10 years of combined in‑house and law‑firm experience; 2‑5 years of prior in‑house experience strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with employees and management at all levels.
Ability to understand key business drivers and balance legal risk with business objectives, effectively communicating resolutions to stakeholders.
Strong work ethic, adaptability to rapidly changing environments, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Capacity to work independently, exercise practical business judgment, and organize/prioritize workload.
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders and managing projects in a team‑oriented approach.
Knowledge of the regulatory framework impacting skincare and cosmetic industries is a plus but not required.
Understanding of digital media and e‑commerce ecosystems is a plus.
Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
High integrity and ethical leadership.
Ability to manage outside counsel for efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
