Job Description Job Description HVAC Technician Employment Type: Per Diem Position Summary The HVAC Apprentice Technician supports experienced technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role is designed for individuals beginning their HVAC career who want to gain hands-on experience, build technical skills, and work toward becoming a certified HVAC Technician. Learn the skills needed with a master mechanical contractor with over 17 years experience. Key Responsibilities Assist senior technicians with diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and/or commercial HVAC systems. Support installation of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, ventilation equipment, and related components. Learn to perform system inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance tasks. Help troubleshoot equipment issues using proper tools and diagnostic methods. Maintain cleanliness of job sites, vehicles, tools, and equipment. Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards. Document completed work accurately and communicate effectively with team members and customers. Participate in ongoing technical training and certification programs. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Mechanical aptitude and strong desire to learn a skilled trade. Ability to use basic hand and power tools. Transportation, valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. Skills & Competencies Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn. Good communication and teamwork skills. Punctual, reliable, and able to follow instructions. Commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Preferred (Not Required) Previous experience in construction, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical fields. EPA Universal certification or willingness to obtain it. OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain it. Basic understanding of HVAC systems, tools, or terminology.
