Associate General Counsel - AI Product
Meta ’s Product Counsel organization provides strategic legal advice and risk mitigation to product, engineering, and business teams across
Meta ’s family of products and services. The organization partners cross‑functionally to address complex, novel legal issues in a fast‑paced, innovative environment, and influences product and business decisions at scale.
Base pay range $198,000.00/yr - $266,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Provide practical, strategic legal advice to product, engineering, and business teams across
Meta ’s global products and initiatives
Analyze new products, features, and business models to identify and mitigate legal risks across multiple jurisdictions
Advise on a broad range of legal subject areas, including consumer protection, data protection, privacy, competition, intellectual property, and emerging legal frameworks
Drive high‑profile, high‑impact projects involving legal analysis and compliance with cross‑functional stakeholders (business, policy, legal, communications, security, etc.)
Influence product and business decisions, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements
Proactively identify and address potential legal roadblocks, developing plans to mitigate risks
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution
Active and in good standing bar license in at least one U.S. state or equivalent foreign bar license. Where the jurisdiction of licensure differs from the location in which the role is based, the ability to promptly obtain permission to practice law for
Meta
in that location
5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm, in‑house, or in government
Demonstrated experience providing legal advice on technology, internet, or media products and services
Experience with advertising, privacy, data protection, consumer protection, competition, and/or intellectual property laws and regulations
Proven business judgment and client counseling skills
Effective communication skills
Experience working on cross‑functional projects and influencing executive‑level stakeholders
High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to create structure and execution plans in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm, in‑house, or in government
Experience working on AI powered products
Product counseling experience
Demonstrated experience with AI transactions, including complex licensing, joint development, and strategic partnerships
Prior in‑house experience supporting advanced product teams or 0→1 product launches
Familiarity with global data privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory issues in the AI domain
