Family Medicine Physician – Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), Oswego, NY Valor Healthcare is a contractor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, operating over 50 Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) across the United States. The role is a Clinical Medical Director position at our CBOC in Oswego, NY.

Core Responsibilities

Actively participate and oversee the diagnoses and treatment of veterans.

Manage day‑to‑day medical operations, ensuring high‑quality clinical standards and exceptional customer service.

Achieve and maintain excellent clinical outcomes through periodic chart reviews, direct observation, and adherence to VA guidelines.

Ensure all colleagues provide excellent service to veterans (in person and over the phone) and to clinic visitors.

Help manage the clinic’s financial performance.

Participate in outreach events to support the clinic’s enrollment initiatives.

Support patient enrollment and retention by guiding patients on scheduling, follow‑up visits, or nurse visits.

Maintain staffing levels aligned with veteran enrollment, contract terms, and clinical outcomes; review and analyze reporting while responding to alerts and notifications.

Ensure clinic metrics meet or exceed VA thresholds.

Emphasize recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and retaining talent through effective communication, training, and performance management.

Develop and maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with VA partners and keep the Regional Medical Director informed of significant issues.

Innovate, embrace, and support new initiatives—clinical or operational—and execute strategic plans that drive Valor Business success.

Qualifications

4+ years of clinical medical practice; healthcare management experience preferred.

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.

Board certified in family practice or internal medicine.

Credentialed and maintained in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).

Valid, unrestricted license in the state of employment—or in any U.S. state or territory as required by VA contract.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; current ACLS certification as specified by contract.

Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Excellent computer skills.

Ability to manage both upward and downward.

Energetic, optimistic demeanor.

Strong service mentality with a focus on meeting all service standards.

Ability to resolve colleague, client, and patient issues effectively and in a timely manner.

Board eligible or board certified medical doctor with or without U.S. residency; current U.S. work visa.
