Position Overview The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Manager, Policy. The Manager will report directly to the Managing Vice President, Policy and will manage cross-functional projects, including policy research, drafting, and issue advocacy campaigns, in support of the MVP’s and the Department’s policy and advocacy objectives. The Manager also will handle all aspects of administration and executive support for the MVP and the Policy Department.
Job Responsibilities
Manage cross-functional projects, policy issues, and issue advocacy campaigns within the Policy Department, and in close coordination with the Communications and Government Relations Departments, in service of the NAM’s policy and advocacy goals.
Work closely with and maintain relationships across numerous departments to drive timelines, ensure alignment, and support the MVP’s strategic vision.
Conduct research and draft policy content (memos, letters, etc.) on assigned topics. Deliver strong written work product. Ensure the MVP remains abreast of important policy issues relevant to the Policy Department.
Manage a fast‑changing calendar on behalf of the MVP—to include both internal and external meetings, speaking engagements, travel arrangements, and other special projects—with discretion and accuracy, proactively identifying conflicts and adjusting priorities with agility and sound judgement.
Review all incoming work product before it reaches the MVP; provide substantive suggestions and make copyediting/formatting changes; work closely with Policy Department to ensure deadlines are met and content aligns with agreed-upon goals.
Provide logistical support to the MVP; i.e., briefing memos, talking points, expense reports, event logistics, etc.
Maintain a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of related Executive Branch, Association, or Capitol Hill experience.
Exceptional understanding of legislative and regulatory processes with strong research and writing skills.
Must be able to manage multiple projects concurrently and make decisions quickly, while paying impeccable attention to detail.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and office management abilities. Strong time management and organizational skills required.
Exceptional executive communication skills and writing, proofreading, and formatting abilities.
Proactive mindset, with an ability to anticipate and address problems before they arise.
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, quality, and goal‑driven environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct reports.
Salary Range $65,000 - $70,000 annually. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
