Overview
This position is eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval – award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Base Pay Range $145,000 /yr – $335,000 /yr
Basic Requirements
United States citizenship or eligible non‑citizen if no qualified citizens are available per VA policy.
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.
Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to board certification.
Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.
Physicians may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) if they are fully licensed and meet residency requirements; PRPs are appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred: Background in outpatient primary care clinics and board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Physical: Able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation without hazard to self or others.
Duties
Panel management.
Timely completion of accurate notes.
Management of a reduced panel to assist with other duties.
Review and address view alerts within 48 hours.
Complete encounters by the COB.
Request leave according to primary‑care policy.
Set a surrogate for view alerts when away on Saturday.
Perform Saturday clinic rotation if re‑implemented TMS completion.
Supervise the site or a team (minimum 5 direct reports if a team).
Ensure teams are huddling daily and key points are addressed.
Welcome and check‑in with new team members regularly.
Share best practices with the team.
Maintain open feedback culture.
Know and keep team information readily available (administrative time, committee involvements, board certifications, wait times, etc.).
Disseminate information as needed.
Lead staff meetings with ANM.
Complete proficiencies for your site/team.
Conduct oral counseling when necessary.
Ensure completion and review of First Patient Proficiency Examination (FPPE) – new providers after 3 months (10 charts) and seasoned providers every 12 months (5 charts).
Assist with orientation for new providers and shadow them for the first 2 days in clinic.
Maintain performance measures for the team.
Daily running of the clinics/team.
Provide education including PACT trainings and content development.
Participate in ACSC education and monitoring.
Assist with closing the loop on patient complaints assigned to your site or team.
Provide surrogate schedules and assignments.
First point of contact in the morning with team challenges.
Update SharePoint monthly.
Assist with encounter monitoring – secure messaging completion and survey updates.
Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
