The OpportunityNextCare Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Fredericksburg, Virginia clinic.
In this role, you will care for a diverse patient population, manage a wide range of urgent care conditions, and practice with a high degree of clinical independence supported by physician oversight, standardized protocols, and a collaborative care team.
What You ll DoEvaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients across the lifespan
Manage common urgent care presentations, including acute illness, injuries, and minor procedures
Perform and interpret basic diagnostics (X-ray, EKG, labs)
Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly
Document care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record
Maintain clinical productivity consistent with urgent care standards
Deliver care aligned with NextCare s clinical, ethical, and quality expectations
Monday Friday: 8:00 AM 8:00 PM
Saturday Sunday: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
Providers work 12-hour shifts within operating hours
Rotating weekends and holidays required
Required
Active, unrestricted Virginia license
NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant or ANCC/AANP-certified Nurse Practitioner
Family practice scope; comfortable treating patients from pediatrics through geriatrics
Active DEA registration
BLS certification
Comfort practicing independently in an urgent care setting
Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
DOT certification preferred or willingness to obtain (training provided at no cost)
Preferred
Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track ER experience
Strong procedural skills (suturing, splinting, wound care)
Experience with initial X-ray interpretation
