Under the direction of a physician, the Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care delivery by performing clinical and administrative duties. This role focuses on patient preparation, clinical documentation, medication administration, and assisting providers during examinations and procedures.
Duties Record and maintain vital signs, medical histories, allergies, and medication lists. Accurately document patient information and report abnormalities to healthcare providers. Administer injectable medications following safety protocols. Collect and process blood, urine, and electrocardiogram (EKG) tests. Prepare patients for tests, procedures, and X-rays, and perform basic wound care.
Requirements CMA Certification High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA is required.
