Summary As a Business Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal part in driving revenue growth at Emulate by supporting the global field sales team and internal commercial operations teams. You’ll educate and engage prospects while empowering current users, building strong relationships that fuel the early stages of the sales cycle. With a sharp eye for detail, you will maintain accurate CRM data in Salesforce, manage customer accounts, and ensure deployed assets remain in warranty compliance. Your research skills will help identify key players and strategic accounts, arming the sales team with insights that spark meaningful conversations. You’ll boost event success by driving attendance and delivering thoughtful follow-ups to prospects and customers. Beyond sales support, you will streamline operations through order processing, tech‑stack administration, and coordination with logistics and internal teams. You’ll also help prepare impactful presentations and maintain calendars that keep marketing, sales, and support activities running smoothly. As an adaptable team player, you’ll collaborate across departments and push initiatives forward to elevate the overall customer experience.
Key Tasks
Follow-up on marketing qualified leads (MQLs) and identify qualified opportunities
Educate and develop prospects as well as engage current users to expand awareness and identify new opportunities to pass to the Business Development Executives
Ensure successful follow through of sales cycle and designated cadences by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in our CRM (Salesforce)
Identify key players, profile strategic accounts, and research prospects to present relevant data and solutions to begin the sales cycle
Drive attendance for events (conferences, webinars, seminars) and engage in follow-up conversations with attendees
Maintain customer account records in our CRM (Salesforce)
Maintain warranty status of all deployed assets
Assist with new account registration (W-9 forms, Vendor registration, etc.)
Process customer orders and work with logistics and other support functions to help drive consistent customer experience
Provide tech stack support (assigning licenses, granting access, maintaining reports and data accuracy)
Help in consolidating data and slides for regular meetings (Monthly Commercial Team Reviews, Board Slides, Quarterly Business Reviews, etc.)
Create and maintain calendars for regular Marketing, Sales, and Support activities
Collaborate with sales and marketing team members on strategic sales approaches
Ad hoc project management and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or related field
Experience in Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, or Biotechnology industry preferred, or strong willingness to learn
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel); preferred experience with Salesforce and other Sales Enablement software tools
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently with limited oversight
Ability to travel, nationally and internationally, as needed
Desire to learn the entirety of the Commercial Operations function and passion for learning new skills
Must be in the Boston area and able to come into the office up to 4 days per week
Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Variable Compensation: Performance-based bonus opportunity targeted at 30% of annual base salary, paid quarterly based on revenue recognized under U.S. GAAP
