Job Summary Epiphany Wellness is seeking a Program Director to provide leadership, clinical oversight, and operational management for our outpatient mental health and substance use disorder programs. This role is responsible for the overall performance, culture, and compliance of the program and requires a strong, visible onsite presence with a hands‑on leadership approach. The Program Director serves as a key leader supporting staff, clinical quality, and daily operations while ensuring services are delivered in alignment with evidence‑based practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards. This role includes 24‑hour management responsibilities, including on‑call coverage, and requires the ability to respond effectively to clinical, operational, and staffing needs.

Responsibilities Program Leadership & Culture

Provide consistent, visible onsite leadership to support staff, clients, and daily program operations.

Foster a positive, respectful, and professional workplace culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and ethical practice.

Model strong leadership behaviors, including clear communication, approachability, and sound decision‑making.

Address staff concerns, performance issues, and operational challenges promptly and professionally.

Support staff engagement, morale, and retention through coaching, feedback, and recognition.

Clinical Oversight & Quality

Ensure delivery of high‑quality, client‑centered outpatient MH/SUD services consistent with evidence‑based practices.

Oversee clinical programming, group structure, individual services, and coordination of care.

Monitor clinical documentation for quality, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Collaborate with clinical supervisors and leadership to identify and address trends, gaps, or risks in care delivery.

Support treatment team collaboration, case consultation, and appropriate clinical escalation.

Operations & Compliance

Oversee day‑to‑day program operations, including scheduling, staffing coverage, census management, and workflow efficiency.

Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, accreditation, and payer requirements.

Partner with utilization review, billing, and administrative teams to support continuity of care and operational alignment.

Participate in audits, corrective action planning, and quality improvement initiatives as needed.

Staff Supervision & Development

Directly supervise clinical and non‑clinical leadership staff as assigned.

Ensure staff receive appropriate onboarding, training, and ongoing supervision.

Conduct performance evaluations, support professional development, and address performance concerns when necessary.

Promote autonomy within roles while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.

Collaboration & Communication

Serve as a key liaison between onsite staff and executive leadership.

Communicate program updates, expectations, and initiatives clearly and consistently.

Support interdisciplinary collaboration across departments to enhance client outcomes and operational success.

Represent the program professionally with external partners, referral sources, and stakeholders as appropriate.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in behavioral health, social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field strongly preferred. Licensure is preferred but not required.

Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated leadership experience in outpatient mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment.

Strong working knowledge of outpatient MH/SUD clinical models, regulations, and standards of care.

Proven ability to lead teams onsite, manage competing priorities, and maintain program stability.

Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with program development, quality improvement, or multi‑disciplinary team leadership.

Familiarity with utilization review processes, documentation standards, and payer expectations.

The Program Director is expected to be actively engaged in the life of the program and serve as a visible, accessible leader. The position includes 24‑hour management responsibility, including on‑call coverage as required.
