Sr. Counsel, Licensing and Technology Transactions
Join Applied Materials as a senior counsel in Licensing and Technology Transactions. This role reports to a Director in the Legal and Compliance Organization and supports IP licensing agreements, joint development and collaboration agreements, IP acquisitions and divestitures, and other complex transactions.

Key Responsibilities
Providing business and legal advice to business stakeholders.
Framing, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating IP licensing, joint development, collaboration, and product qualification agreements to achieve desired business objectives.
Counseling business and sales teams on contract provisions and legal/business risks.
Partnering with other legal groups to deliver comprehensive support.
Managing outside counsel work quality and budgets.
Actively participating in process and technology projects to improve service and efficiency.
Qualifications
Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
7+ years of relevant experience with IP licensing, joint development agreements, IP purchases and sales, and complex transactions.
Deep understanding of contract terms related to technology and IP rights; strong legal and business judgment.
Excellent negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to spot compliance and regulatory implications.
Collaborative across organizational boundaries and international teams.
Occasional travel.
Licensed to practice law in California.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Experience in both law firm and in‑house corporate legal departments.
Experience in the semiconductor industry.
Experience in financing, investment, and M&A transactions.
Experience in software licensing, including open‑source software.
Registered US patent attorney.
Ability to translate business needs into contract language and creatively resolve issues.
Self‑starter with strong organizational skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
