POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for overseeing and managing technical IT projects. In this role, under the direction of the ITS Project Management Office, the Project Manager will plan, direct and coordinate activities surrounding department or organizational project(s) and initiative(s) to ensure goals and objectives are met within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Responsibilities include managing all phases of IT projects – feasibility, planning, design, build, test, implement, and close. The Project Manager will be responsible for following the ITS project management lifecycle and governance process, using the enterprise PPM tool for project management and team collaboration, building and leading cross‑functional project teams, developing, resourcing and managing project work plans. The Project Manager will facilitate information flow between project team members, management, vendors and other project stakeholders. This role will facilitate and operationalize relationships with external organizations, vendors, and other strategic partners. The Project Manager has some managerial level responsibility and decision‑making authority for assigned projects. The Project Manager will collaborate with PMO team members and other ITS stakeholders to foster continuous improvement of BMCHS ITS project management practices.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Partner with customers, IT stakeholders, vendors, and other internal/external project stakeholders to define project scope, develop project plans, and successfully deliver customer value via execution of those plans.

Coordinate with ITS Resource Managers to identify and assign appropriate staff to projects to ensure timely completion of project work.

Schedule and facilitate project status meetings, working sessions, etc. required to ensure the project is progressing according to plan and stakeholders are well‑informed about relevant project details.

Follow IT PMO standards, including following the IT project management lifecycle, using standard templates and storage locations, and adhering to standards related to use of the enterprise PPM tool.

Ensure project stakeholder information requirements are identified and addressed.

Maintain project status information in the enterprise PPM tool and communicate project status to appropriate stakeholders on a regular basis.

Identify, document, and facilitate resolution of project issues and risks, using expert judgment to elevate to appropriate leadership in a timely manner.

Create and maintain project schedules to ensure they reflect progress to date vs. the original plan accurately as possible.

Ensure project documentation is auditable.

Participate in and assist with facilitation of IT governance activities/meetings, as requested by the IT PMO Portfolio Manager and Director of the IT PMO.

Contribute to IT project management continuous improvement activities.

Mentor junior project managers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree Required

Preference is for a degree in project management, IT, engineering, or business

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required) or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment

Experience with tools used for project management (MS Project, Planview, ServiceNow PPM, Clarity, Jira, etc.) preferred

Master’s degree a plus

EXPERIENCE

7-10 years of experience in project management, including software/system project experience

Experience in all phases of project management on medium‑to‑large‑scale projects

Business process flow analysis experience preferred

Healthcare project management experience (e.g. hospital, health insurance, pharmacy, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) preferred

IT project management experience (e.g. enterprise software implementation/upgrade, hardware implementation/upgrade, IT infrastructure projects, health insurance product implementation, etc.)

Proven success working in a highly matrixed environment

Proven experience in managing multiple vendors

Prior supervisory experience a plus

Demonstrated technical skills and knowledge

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

PMI-based project management

Ability to apply agile practices to project/product work to maximize value delivery in an enterprise environment

Proficient in MS Office products include MS Project and Visio

Planview knowledge (Enterprise One, Lean Kit, Projectplace) knowledge a plus

Technical curiosity for system capabilities

Ability to reach out across the organization and communicate with people at different levels, with diverse needs and agendas

Software and application knowledge with base knowledge of relevant technologies with experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC)

Compensation Range $83,000.00- $120,500.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market‑competitiveness.
