Job Summary Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute (HPHCI) seeks a highly motivated Project Manager for the Division of Health Policy and Insurance Research (HPI). The Project Manager will oversee research projects in health policy and insurance, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and of high scientific quality. The role requires excellent communication skills and experience in health policy research environments.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Oversee day‑to‑day management of large, complex, multi‑site research projects, using project‑management principles to evaluate progress, identify problems, recommend solutions, and implement improvements.
May hire, train, and supervise project staff; mentor junior researchers.
Manage the processes of data collection, analysis, and results reporting; facilitate creation and monitoring of timelines and prioritization tracking systems.
Serve as the primary liaison to funders, study investigators, and external stakeholders; plan or oversee project calls and meetings.
Ensure human subject/HIPAA protections; plan and oversee protocol development, data collection, and analysis.
Perform out‑of‑the‑box thinking, collaborate with others, and drive day‑to‑day improvements; complete additional duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in public health or a related field strongly preferred.
Experience
Minimum four (4) years of experience coordinating or managing small to medium, multi‑site projects and cross‑functional initiatives in a health care or academic setting, using standard PM methodologies.
Master’s degree in public health or related field is strongly preferred.
Skill Requirements
Strong judgment, prioritization, and deadline management in independent work.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with senior staff, investigators, and external stakeholders.
Advanced experience managing relationships with external partners, subcontractors, and vendors.
Solid understanding of a research environment, including IRB submissions and grant preparation.
Experience mentoring junior staff.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other desktop tools.
Resilient, collaborative, flexible, innovative.
Working Conditions / Additional Requirements
Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
May be required to work additional hours beyond the standard schedule.
Salary Range $82,658.93 - $123,988.39 per year.
Compensation & Total Rewards Overview Annual base salary range for this role is determined by scope, complexity, and candidate skills, education, and experience. Variable pay and bonuses are provided at the discretion of the company.
