Ultrasound Tech – Full‑time – 3rd Shift – Trinity 4 days ago – Be among the first 25 applicants.

Major Responsibilities

Position, transfer, and immobilize patients for procedures, ensuring optimal quality exams.

Operate portable ultrasound equipment as required to perform portable procedures throughout the hospital.

Assist physicians with recommendations for obtaining optimal studies by suggesting selections for technical factors.

Document department records (inventory of supplies, patient statistics) to ensure adequate supplies and proper patient records.

Maintain correct patient records, assemble daily patient schedules, and prepare patient folders.

Prepare ultrasound rooms, ensuring that necessary equipment and supplies are available before performing procedures.

Know and operate hospital computer systems as required.

Secure pertinent medical history from the patient for each procedure to provide the radiologist with adequate information.

Work closely with the radiologist when requested to ensure an optimal outcome for each procedure.

Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with patients, fellow employees, or any personnel encountered during daily activities.

Comply with established hospital safety standards, maintaining annual CPR certification and operating all equipment safely according to hospital and department policies.

Use Universal Precautions to protect self and others from bodily fluid exposure.

Keep abreast of current skills and developments in the field of ultrasound, including instruction and assistance to students or fellow technologists.

Report patient safety events and near misses in a timely fashion, adhere to all behavioral and procedural patient safety practices, and promote a culture of safety.

Education and Experience Required

Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Eligible for registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and possess a minimum of one year of clinical scanning experience.

ARDMS Registered or registry eligible within 24 months of graduation.

CPR certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

High degree of technical knowledge to perform specialized ultrasound studies with minimal assistance from radiologists.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Adjust to flexible hours at minimal notice, including odd hours and on‑call duties.

Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.

Stand for long periods of time.

Constantly view a video display screen during exams.

Perform lifting activities related to patients; lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; use patient handling equipment for lifts over 35 pounds, when possible.

Recognize the needs and behaviors of all age groups and communicate appropriately.
