A Day in the Life Sample Custodian Technicians are responsible for ensuring that samples are received, documented and stored correctly. They notify the Group Leader about receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, or other discrepancies that could affect the laboratory’s ability to meet the expectations of our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. pathogens or chemicals). Employees are well‑trained to maintain safety conditions and are passionate about doing work that makes things move forward.
Our Bay Area Service Center in Emeryville, CA is currently seeking a full‑time Sample Receiving Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities
Receive environmental samples into the laboratory according to Enthalpy’s SOPs
Perform data entry of sample and test information into Laboratory Information System (LIMS)
Label sample containers, store them in appropriate locations and/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests
Assist in sample bottle preparation
Assist in sample management/archiving and disposal
Assist in sample pickup or field sampling, if needed
Assist in the coordination of daily field sampling/pickup schedule, if needed
Participate in focus teams to improve efficiency
Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program
Comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of general workplace practices and lab safety
Able to multi‑task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
Able to work independently and make sound decisions
Well organized and have an attention to detail

Schedule: 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
