Job Description Responsible for speech therapy patient service delivery including evaluation and treatment of routine and complex patients. Responsibilities include evaluating inpatients with speech, language/cognitive, swallowing or voice disorders, completing appropriate documentation/reports and developing and implementing appropriate treatment goals. Performs services that may include modified barium swallow studies, and other related duties. Completes required documentation and communicates patient information across the continuum of care. Participates in training and program development and represents the department to the medical and general community. Demonstrates competence in the UCSD Health System core values and leads education of departmental staff in advanced clinical care and customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an educational institution approved by the Board of Speech‑Language Pathology, and passage of a Board‑approved examination.

Certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology awarded by the American Speech and Hearing Association.

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) issued by the state of California.

Board of Allied Health Professions (BART) or Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.

Special Conditions

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Annual Full Pay Range: $133,152 - $147,643 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $63.77 - $70.71. Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
