What You'll Do The Revenue and Marketing Data Science Team at Walmart Global Tech is dedicated to incubating and developing data‑driven, ML/AI solutions that help Walmart, suppliers, sellers, creators and influencers connect with followers and customers through Marketing, Advertising and Social Commerce to reimagine discovery, storytelling, and personalization at scale. Job Description

Develop and apply state‑of‑the‑art deep learning based generative models and multi‑modal models such as text generation, image generation, video generation and capturing multimodal data relationships.

Proficient in evaluating trade‑offs between open source versus Cloud APIs for multimodal Gen AI in terms of performance and cost efficiencies.

Work with large scale data and curate in‑house domain datasets from scratch.

Collaborate with Engineering teams to define interfaces, understand and resolve dependencies.

Standardize and build scalable and highly available systems that follow operational best practices.

Develop visuals and reports to efficiently communicate model results and insights to business teams.

Maintain world‑class academic credentials through patent applications, publications, conference presentations, and external collaboration and service to the research community.

Qualifications

Expertise in working with deep‑learning based generative/multi‑modal models or similar research experience with deep‑learning/AI.

Experience with multimodal Generative Models for Text, Image, Audio, and Video generation.

Experience in VLMs for Image classification, object detection, scene/semantic segmentation, keypoint detection, CLIP/similar for similarity.

Experience in models for multimodal synthetic data generation.

Experience with large deep‑learning model fine‑tuning and deployment.

Experience with prompt engineering and agentic AI design.

Solid understanding of Python and expertise in working with data science packages (NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, etc.).

Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, data science, mathematics or related discipline; Ph.D. is a plus.

Publications in top ML/AI/NLP conferences are a plus.

Proficiency in Java, Python, Bash, PyTorch, BigQuery, SQL, distributed training and inference frameworks, GPU MLOps and CI/CD, FAISS, vector store, agent SDKs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years’ experience in an analytics related field.

Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year’s experience in an analytics related field.

5 years’ experience in analytics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Data science, machine learning, optimization models, Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics.

Successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.

Knowledge of open source frameworks (scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Experience with inclusive digital experiences, accessibility best practices, WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
