Camp Unit Leader
Position Summary
The Unit Leader is responsible for supervising staff and campers while supporting daily operations and administrative duties. This position reports to the Camp Director or Assistant Director and plays a key role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp environment. This is a part‑time position beginning in May.
Assist with the supervision of staff and daily camp operations, including planning and implementing group activities.
Support the Director with training and supervision of camp counselors and activity specialists.
Assist with camper registration and administrative processes.
Support the recruitment of camp support staff.
Assist the Director with all operational needs related to site usage.
Create and maintain a positive camp culture through role modeling and intentional framing of activities.
Ensure the safety and security of campers and staff at all times.
Attend and oversee off‑site trips.
Respond to parent inquiries daily and as needed.
Maintain program operations in compliance with Department of Health standards.
Participate in the total camp program, including overnights, all‑camp events, and opening and closing day activities.
Qualifications
Previous camp experience required; experience working with children in outdoor, camp, or residential settings preferred.
Experience leading trips strongly preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of customer service principles.
Ability to effectively resolve conflict.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Patience, initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility, and high energy are essential.
Proactive communication style and sound judgment.
Ability to manage groups and supervise staff effectively.
First Aid certification preferred but not required.
Compensation $5,700 for the summer.
Program Dates & Hours
Program Dates: June 30 – August 19.
Schedule: Monday–Friday.
Hours: Approximately 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (hours may vary based on transportation, trips, and program needs).
