Role We have an opportunity for an Engineer or Applied Scientist to join the Applied Science team. The role involves performing essential work for clients utilizing commercial and bespoke finite element analysis (FEA) software tools to solve real‑world challenges. It offers a collaborative environment that challenges intellectually and encourages career growth through learning a suite of bespoke and commercial software.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced analysis and research on engineering and scientific problems, using a combination of engineering level tools and finite element analysis (FEA) to assess severity of extreme loads.

Design engineering solutions to protect structures against the effects of extreme loads and investigate root causes of structural failures.

Work within a team of professionals to address a wide range of problems.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in structural or mechanical engineering—or a relevant applied science degree—with excellent academic marks (GPA ≥3.0).

0–2 years of professional experience in engineering mechanics, structural dynamics, and FEA.

Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, R, or C++.

Expected to work on U.S. government projects requiring U.S. security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Compensation The rate for this position generally is $75,000 – $90,000 annually, in compliance with the Illinois State Pay Transparency Law. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and other factors.
