Facilities Manager
Reporting directly to the Regional Facilities Director, this position is primarily responsible for the overall physical condition and presentation of the YMCA branch, to assure that the facilities are clean, safe and in good repair. This position is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of non‑complex building systems, components, fixtures, and equipment.
Location: Wang YMCA
Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000 / year
Department: Center Staff
Key Duties:
General building and grounds maintenance: carpentry, cleaning, electrical, furniture/equipment assembly, landscaping, masonry, painting, plumbing, snow removal, supply and inventory control, event preparations.
Operate and document building systems: fire alarm, fire sprinkler, security alarm, emergency lighting and signage, emergency egress, building access control, monitoring and recording, fuel distribution, elevators, generators, communications, disposal, sanitary, domestic water, plumbing, electric, heating, cooling, ventilation.
Contract maintenance and repair: scope development, competitive bidding, approvals, scheduling, implementation, record‑keeping.
Act as primary liaison with program Directors for compliance, permitting and certification requirements and local/state/federal inspections.
Collaborate with Aquatics Director to assure proper operation of pool, steam, and sauna systems.
Inspect building envelope for structural and physical integrity (masonry, concrete, EFIS, waterproofing, glazing, fire escapes, roofing, entry and access).
Work under the dotted line responsibility to the Vice President of Facilities and may be involved with the annual Capital Improvement Program.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
Facilities management experience.
Certification in at least one major discipline (electric, HVAC, plumbing or building design) preferred.
Experience in property management, preventative maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, pool maintenance, and housekeeping.
Ability to monitor, supervise and correct maintenance staff to ensure quality of cleanliness and maintenance.
Excellent interpersonal skills, motivation, and positive attitude.
Education and License:
High School Diploma required; advanced degree preferred.
Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for work.
Experience:
Experience in facilities management; education may substitute for experience.
Preferred facility certification as above.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift heavy equipment (mower, snow blower, tools, dock, canoe, etc.).
Ability to operate machinery and tools.
Summer work conditions may include 6 days per week and on‑call coverage.
