Land Use Director – Town of Lunenburg
Under the general direction of the Town Manager, the Land Use Director serves as the Town Planner and Director of Economic Development. This role shapes land use policy, guides development, expands the commercial tax base, and preserves the community’s rural character and historic charm. The Director supports the Planning Board in all statutory functions, coordinates activities of Boards and Departments involved in regulating land use, such as the Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, Sewer Commission, and Department of Public Works, and attends evening meetings as needed.
Responsibilities
Lead municipal land use planning and economic development initiatives.
Develop and enforce zoning, subdivision, and land development regulations.
Coordinate with the Planning Board, zoning boards, conservation commission and utility departments.
Provide technical support on storm water and environmental planning matters.
Attend evening meetings (typically four per month).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in community or regional planning, or related field.
Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning or economic development, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preference for Master’s degree in Community or Regional Planning or related field and/or AICP certification.
Knowledge of municipal land use law, zoning, and subdivision.
Storm water or environmental planning credentials are a plus.
Compensation and Benefits Full-time (40 hours/week) with benefits. Pay range: $48.79/hr – $60.02/hr. Employment agreement possible. Position remains open until filled.
