Shift Schedule: 07:00 – 17:30 (4, 8‑hour shift)

General Job Responsibilities

Perform thorough pre‑anesthesia assessments, including reviewing patient history, conducting physical exams, and discussing anesthesia plans with patients.

Administer anesthesia under the supervision of a licensed anesthesiologist, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care.

Provide continuous patient monitoring and anesthesia adjustments during procedures.

Provide post‑anesthesia care, including managing any complications related to anesthesia.

Ensure continuity of care by collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

Respond immediately for anesthesia‑related emergencies.

Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records.

Skills

Strong understanding and application of anesthesia techniques and practices in various surgical settings.

Ability to make quick decisions in high‑pressure situations.

Effective communication skills.

Proficiency in using anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices.

Skilled in meticulously monitoring patient vitals and managing anesthesia levels.

Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.

Minimum Education Requirements

Master’s‑level degree in an anesthesiologist assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

License & Certifications

Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).

Active and unrestricted medical license in the District of Columbia.

Certain life support certifications may be required for various assignments.

Experience

Most positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.

Additional Notes

Locum tenens CAA positions are temporary assignments, often lasting weeks or months, to address staffing shortages in hospitals, surgical centers, or other healthcare facilities.
