Pay Range $200,000.00/yr - $243,000.00/yr
Summary The Nebraska Western Iowa-Omaha VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for one Infectious Disease Physician. The position will be located in the Specialty Medicine Service Line.
Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements
United States citizenship
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a VA‑approved school
Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Physical ability to walk, stand, or sit for up to 10–12 hours per day and to bend, lift, and turn as needed
Duties
Advocate for a Whole Health System of care within each medical center, empowering veterans to manage their health and well‑being
Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with infectious diseases using standard, usual, and acceptable methods and techniques
Teach and mentor house staff and other learners in a complex, academically affiliated VA medical center
Provide consultation on infectious diseases to the medical staff and serve on medical call rotations with other internists
Use the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) for data entry, retrieval, and management of patient activity
Work full‑time as a dual appointment physician: 5/8ths at the Nebraska Western Iowa‑Omaha VA and 3/8ths at Creighton University of Medicine and CHI Health
Fulfilling required experience as a fellowship‑trained general infectious disease physician and as a fellowship‑trained transplant infectious disease physician; qualify for a faculty appointment at Creighton University School of Medicine and CHI Health
