Minimum 3 years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
ASCP certification or equivalent preferred
Strong background in blood bank operations, transfusion services, and regulatory compliance
Job Overview The Lead Medical Technologist, Blood Bank provides technical and quality leadership for daily blood bank operations under the direction of laboratory leadership. This role performs routine and specialized bench testing while overseeing quality control, regulatory compliance, staff training, competency assessments, inventory management, and workflow coordination. The Lead Technologist collaborates closely with laboratory leadership, physicians, nursing teams, and interdisciplinary partners to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient transfusion support.
Key responsibilities
Supervise blood bank testing and coordinate CAP surveys
Validate instruments and procedures, support Meditech upgrades and downtime readiness
Monitor transfusion activity at affiliated client sites
Manage blood product inventory, reduce wastage, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives
Support ongoing regulatory readiness for AABB, CAP, FDA, CLIA, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards
