A sweet family on the Upper West Side is seeking a nanny/family assistant to help with their 4 children ages 7, 5, 3, and 6-months-old. The typical schedule will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:30am-5:30pm, Wednesday 1pm-6pm, and they can provide hours on Friday if more hours are desired. They can provide anywhere from 30-40+ hours weekly. The most important days they need help are Tuesdays and Wednesdays afternoon into evening. The schedule is subject to change each semester - flexibility is key and appreciated. The nanny’s days will be split between childcare and family assistance. The two older children are in school full-time and the third child will begin morning preschool in the fall. Most mornings would consist of helping get the kids ready for the day, getting the older children out the door to school, and then playtime or classes with the younger ones in the mornings. Caring for the newborn some and keeping him on a schedule. During school days and nap times, additional tasks can include preparing school lunches for the next day, kid or family meal prep as needed, checking grocery needs and ordering, organizing closets/storage, cleaning out kids’ clothing sizes, researching upcoming weekly classes or summer camps, planning for upcoming travel logistics, scheduling play-dates, preparing for upcoming birthday parties, tidying common spaces, and more. The parents work from home and they want someone who is the Mother's right hand. The family already has a housekeeper, but occasionally laundry is needed. Other household tasks may include emptying the diaper pail when full, taking out the kitchen trash and recycling, wiping down the kitchen counters/table/high chair, unloading and loading the dishwasher. Whatever the candidate can do to ensure the parents spend as much time with their children as possible is welcome. After school, the candidate and the Mother will tag-team taking the children to sports/activities/play dates. In the evenings, the typical expectation is that kids’ rooms are tidied, beds made, kid meals are on the table or there has been some assistance with family dinner prep. The candidate to hire must be a team-player who is willing to jump in, resourceful, has common sense, and is low-key to be around. The children are bright, energetic, love attending school/nearby classes, visiting museums, running around at the neighborhood parks, and playing in the family's apartment. The family is looking for someone who is energetic, kind, proactive, organized, flexible, self-motivated, responsible, compassionate, patient, and can instill good values in the children. A car is not needed but comfort driving kids is a plus. The nanny must be able to travel occasionally and be open to working at the family's home outside of the city, especially during the Summer. The home is in Northern Westchester and the nanny can come out to the home during the Summer and work a couple of consecutive full days there. There is a train that can be used for this commute.
