Buyer / Supply Chain Specialist
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Contract poisiton:expecting a 1-year assignment (real potential for extension)
Pay rate: 25-27/hr
About the Role
We're seeking a hands-on Buyer to join our supply chain operations for a one-year engagement due to increased workload. In this role, you'll support sourcing strategy execution, supplier negotiations, and ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services. You'll also collaborate cross-functionally to manage inventory, resolve supply issues, and uphold compliance and procurement best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Assists with Business Global Supply Management (GSM) Strategy Development.
Make decisions necessary to purchase product or services, aligned with organizational objectives and sourcing
Maintain supplier relationships and conduct audits
Own or assist with supply agreements, NDAs, and insurance certificates
Participate in commodity reviews and supply intelligence gathering
Manage inventory levels and slow/obsolete stock; may support storeroom ops
Serve as liaison between procurement and plant operations
Lead or contribute to cost-reduction, process improvement, and compliance initiatives
Champion the Global Buying Policy
Key Competencies
Commodity/supply chain expertise (Manufacturing environment/industry is a Must-have for this role)
Problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration
Business acumen and global supply awareness
Qualifications
Education:
Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred (technical discipline a plus)
Required Experience:
Buyer experience in plant setting
Proficiency in SAP; S/4
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality environments
Cross-functional team experience
Preferred:
Familiarity with Global Supply Management (GSM) systems
Supply Chain certifications (C.P.M., CPSM, APICS, etc.)
Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt
Global business or multi-plant experience
